LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Nyjer Morgan’s Marlins Nationals fight was not surprise to Gaby Sanchez last night. Gaby Sanchez as you see in the video is the charging the attack virtually seconds after Morgan dashes to Chris Volstad. Sanchez now tells baseball news that he wasn’t there fast enough.

Seriously.

“I wish that I could have gotten there before so he couldn’t take a swing at Volstad and I could try to get to the middle of it. He’s very quick, and he’s the only one that knew what he was gonna do.”

Sanchez tells news that he expected the fight attack on Volstad. “I kind of knew in the back of my head there was a chance he would charge if he gets hit again, but he kind of stayed for a second and then all of the sudden threw his bat and then started to run, so he kind of got everybody by surprise. In that situation, I just try to do whatever I can to try to protect my pitcher and get him off of him.”

In fact, Morgan had decided in his mind after the 4th that, if he wasn’t happy with Volstad’s pitches, he was ready to rumble. “I thought it was over after [the fourth inning], but once I saw the ball go right behind me, it’s time to go. Once is good enough, but twice, no, it’s time to go.”

The league has yet to decide if it’s time for Morgan to go as well, on suspension. He is currently appealing another suspension order.
